John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) believed that the Bible was nothing less than the Word of God. But he felt the translations of his day did not follow its original text accurately enough to convey its full meaning. He made it his business to provide one that did, and that was also readable and affordable - first in German and then in French and English. These translations, which he revised a number of times to improve them, are regarded as among the most accurate available. They are still in print and can be accessed online and in Bible study software. They have also been used to prepare translations in Dutch, Italian and Swedish.
