Tract Wording:
IS THERE LIFE AFTER DEATH?
The possibility of a future existence after one's present life is over has been argued and debated by every level of human society. However, when the intricate composition of the human body is considered, surely the commonly held view that "Death Ends All" ceases to be tenable.
Where then will we find an answer? How about an illustration from our own environment? As Summer merges into Autumn, many obvious changes take place; leaves fall, grass withers, days shorten and birds migrate warmer climes. But then, Spring arrives and life returns. Nature rejoices, flowers bloom and life and growth returns. While used as an illustration it does not fully answer our hugely important question "IS THERE LIFE AFTER DEATH?". However, turning to the Bible we learn not only that there is Life after Death but that also the God of the Bible has done everything that is required to guarantee that when we accept His Son as our Saviour we will have EVERLASTING LIFE with Christ in Heaven.
A conversation Jesus had with a fellow sufferer, while both were hanging on Roman Crosses, ONE voluntarily paying the price for the Sins of a fallen race, the other for his own sins, clearly teaches us how, like this convicted criminal, we can hear the amazing words "Today you will be with Me in Paradise". This deep dyed sinner could neither pay for this promise, nor could he work for it, in a few hours his lifeless body would be callously thrown into a pit dug at the foot of his cross. So, what made this promise a reality? It was because of a change of heart and mind about himself and about the MAN on the centre cross. Here are his words recorded in Luke ch.23 verses 39/43. He addresses a fellow- criminal; "Dost thou not fear God: We receive the due reward of our deeds, but this man (Jesus) has done nothing amiss". Then he addresses Christ, "Lord remember me when thou comest into thy Kingdom". From this we learn what changed his heart, his mind and his destiny. While the reader of this leaflet may not have stooped to the depths of sin this man had, the change he experienced must be common to all who want to have the assurance of spending an endless Eternity with Christ in His Everlasting Kingdom. This is what assured this transformed man that Death does not end all, and that Death can lead to gain. The question is Do YOU have this assurance?
But what about his friend? No change of attitude is recorded, he died as he had lived, sadly for him there is eternal existence in Hell along with all who refuse the offer of Eternal Life, available to all but only given to all who accept God's offer of mercy.
