Hannah More had a gift for writing and was set to become one of the leading literary light of her day; Quite a accomplishment for a woman in the 1700s. However, over time she came to realise that public recognition was not the the secret to a life of peace or happiness; only Jesus Christ could fulfill her life. Hannah More went on to defend women's rights and education. She stands beside the names of William Wilberforce and John Newton as a supporter of the anti- slavery movement.
