Comments on The Book of Hebrews

The Epistle to the Hebrews is one of the more challenging books in the New Testament. Written to the Jewish converts to Christianity, and in view of the impending destruction of Jerusalem, it is a clarion call to “go outside the camp” of earthly religious systems and their traditions. The ceremonial order of Jewish worship had been set aside by God through Christ’s work on the cross. These Jewish believers in Messiah needed to heed this “word of exhortation” (Heb. 13:22), and so do we. One of the striking things in Hebrews is its rich presentation of the Lord Jesus Christ and His priesthood, typified by the priesthood of Aaron and Melchisedec.
